Toned PL

    Try shooting the images flat to the lens. Angle shots don't work.

    I love the way that PL surfaces can make toning *pop*. Unfortunately, it also makes them a beast to photograph. NGC MS-64PL, ex Dick Osburn (these photos by the excellent @robec ).

    Angle shots can work, but you have to move the camera around and pay attention to what is in you viewing window. If the glare is in the window, it will be in the photo.

    Nice coin, for sure. I've had two or three toned PLs. I tend to take one picture set straight-on to show the mirrors, and a second set from an angle to show the toning, without the reflection from the slab. I'm sure the expert photographers here have refined this technique far more than this.
