Overpaid for a hoard of these neat proof medallions by Medallic Arts Co of New York. They are very cool though. Came in original boxes. They are all from the 60s. Some have quite a few fine lines in the field, hopefully it is die polish and not hair lines. The devices are immaculate so I am thinking die polish, except for one which has a clear scratch. I don't think PCGS grades Medallic Arts medals, but I will be checking with them. NGC does, so I will be sending off to NGC. I'd prefer PCGS just because the TrueViews of these would be just spectacular.

I'm very fond of my MACO medals. You shouldn't be afraid to take them out of those flips to get better images of them.

Just out of curiosity, what size are they? Judging from your photos, I'm guessing that they are about 50mm or so. My largest are 63.5mm and are in the largest oversized slab that NGC has. If yours are similar in size, be prepared to pay a fairly large fee for the larger slabs. Even if they are the standard size, they may require one of the specialty slabs for high relief like these below.

They are only 41.5 mm. I think they may be able to fit in a standard slab. Close call.

I forgot to tell you that yours are very pretty. I'm particularly fond of that toning. I assume they are .999 fine silver.

Thx Chris. Yes they are .999. I'm really happy with all but the last one, which has the big scratch. If I can't submit them to PCGS and have them TrueViewed, I'll have to find someone to professionally photograph them before I send to NGC.

Pcgs should be doing those now. I’ve seen some other medallic arts pieces in their holders

If you send those to PCGS, be sure to get the TrueView images. Those are worth it.

I finally received my results from NGC. Everything straight graded as it should have (no artificial toning). I was worried just because the toning was so incredible. I submitted 17 medals and the grades ranged from 65 to 69, with several grading PL and DPL. Most were 67 and 68. These are NGC's images of my two favorites. Even with NGC's cert photography (which is not intended to capture toning well), you can see how nice the color is.

I have another ten medals that I purchased this month that I need to submit. These are not very valuable medals but I am really enjoying trying to putting a full set together, ideally a full set of toners.

Not only is the toning pretty, but the medals themselves are beautiful in their own right. Nice set!
