Toned walker. So, I've been on a toned coin spree lately with moderns(attractively toned 19th century coins are a bit out of my pricerange). Fortunately, I've been able to find them cheap. I've been looking at toned walkers for a while, and I've had a hard time finding one that's attractively toned AND reasonably priced. This one was both IMO. The only sacrifice is stepping down from BU to AU, which I was willing to do.

    Opininions?

thanks! What do you think she grades. I'd give the obverse a 50, and the reverse a 55..so, AU-53 total.

really? the reverse looks close, but the lighter spots on the obverse appear to me to be from wear. Admittedly it's tough to tell from the pics. I'll provide better ones when she arrives.

Well, this is my opinion. I think that the toning makes the obverse look like it's more worn than you think. I personally would grade this MS62+. Yes, there is some dirt looking toning in some places on the obverse, but that doesn't take away from those wonderful details :D

    Johnny,

I agree with Ryan! The lighter spots on the Obverse appear to be mainly breaks in the toning due to contact and are not actually evidence of wear.

If you purchased the coin, do you have it in hand and are the pictures your's or the Seller's? The reason I ask, is that I can see no break in the background pattern (a minutely small boundary line) which is usually evident when two pictures are merged together to make one picture. From the picture, it appears to me that the Obverse of one coin was used while the Reverse of another coin was used!

I see what you are saying. These are the sellers' photos. He has good feedback and a return policy. They certainly look like the same coin, but the imagery is a little too perfect with that merge. Anyways, here is the listing.

As far as details go, we probably need a better pic. If he sold me a BU coin advertised as AU... well heck; that would be a nice surprise and rare occurence. I'll definitely update with better pics when it gets here.

I think the photos are ok. I looked at some of his other auctions and that's just the way he does them. He has a holed coin for sale and it looks just like your pictures, but it's definitely one coin.

Whatever the grade, it's a pleasant looking coin.

Yeah. There are all kinds of ways he could have gotten rid of that seam.

I could have made an offer, but I thought the $18.99 plus free shipping price was more than reasonable for this coin, even if its a low AU at worst.

I received the walker today. I think Frank and Ryan may be right about the grade. It has way more luster than I expected, and very little, if any, wear. It's flashy and the tone is gorgeous. I had a hard time picking it up on my camera. The seller had the color pretty close, but it is much more shiny and radiant in hand.
