I was given a sack of tokens and one side has a slot machine on it and the other side has 777 on it. Two initials very small at the bottom read "HM". Could someone tell me what this is? and where did it come from?

A description for tokens very similar to what you have is in an amusement token reference that I have. Unfortunately, the cataloging of that grouping was scheduled to be printed in a separate supplement to be released several years after the book, which was in 1984. I have never seen any of these supplements, so I do not know if the work was ever completed or not.

This grouping was described as numbered slot machine tokens, and most were issued during the early 1900s. I believe the HM designates the manufacturer of the token. I could not find the name quickly though to pass that information along. I have a number of amusement tokens with those initials also.

    Pictures of tokens!

Sorry it took so long to respond, I am a minister and I've had a flood of people needing help of some kind. One of the ladies in our church broke her ankle last night and I had to go to KC MO, and didn't get home till 3:00am. So, I'm beat! Here are the pictures!

I have done more searching, and I still can not find out what the initials "HM" stood for, although they are used on other amusement tokens as well. I believe that your token would be classified as a "numbered slot machine token". These were sometimes numbered for tracking to a specific slot machine. Sorry I can not tell you much additional about your token(s) other than this type of token typically has very low value, and is often sold in qty. (by the 100, or pound, etc.) and not by the piece as they are not worth the cost of the stamp to mail just one.

    Tokens!!!

They came from the Kansas City Missouri area, I sort of figured that someone won a small pot at a slot machine and didn't cash them in.

    BTW! Thanks!
