Anyone collect tokens? Actually I know there's a few Conder token collectors but I'm talking about the cheaper tokens. The ones I can actually afford to buy if I like them.:D

Anyone have anything to share, post pics etc. I have a very small collection of tokens but nothing worth very much. It's somewhat of a haphazard collection, and still a bit of a mystery to me, (collecting tokens). I gotta get me a book on tokens but there are so many out there!!. Also, on ebay sometimes you can get a steal of a deal and other times you're paying way too much. It's even worse than buying coins on ebay!!:D One thing for certain tho' when I go into some antique stores and see their prices on tokens, I find they are becoming more and more collectable. Anyone?

I have recently been picking up some tokens
when I run across them and ones that talk to me:eek:
    (scary thought).
It is quite a bit of fun trying to track down the history of
    them. Here is a few.

Very cool, Stewart! The 1934 World's Fair is called an elongated cent, and there are people who collect them. Every year at the FUN Show, there is a dealer who sets up his machine, and they are free for the taking. I usually try to pick out date/mm cents that I don't already have, but I always make it a point to give him "regular" Lincoln's in return.

I am not so lucky as to have something
on the order of Conder Tokens yet. Or any real
early American ones.I am looking forward to finding them though.
I just have inexpensive stuff. picked up at antique shops
and half off bins at local coin shops.

    Thanks
    Sounds Very Cool Chris

this got sorta long, so before you read, i wanted to let everyone know my tokens are not rare or anything.. so you may want to skip my post

i have an older looking token with Buddha on it and a gold token with an angel in the clouds with a halo. its the same design on both sides and not real gold just color, i think i have two. i got a few tokens from whistling straits, its a white water rafting place in wv. they are not old though, i got them in 03 when i went.

my girlfriend found a real cool military looking one, with an eagle on one side. but thats all i can remember. i was having a real bad panic attack and just took my meds when she came with it. after that everything was a blur and i don't remember where i put it, or even what was on it.

sorta embarrassing but i got a collection of chucky cheese tokens, from '85 and up.

the only other token i got is an american hunting club moose token. its my favorite, i love the eagle on the reverse. its still in the plastic wrap. i seen a so called "MS" quality one selling for $15! no way it was MS though, somehow it was really worn? maybe carried around in a pocket for a long time..

i doubt anyone wants to see my "cheap tokens", so i didn't take no pictures. but could get some of specific ones, if anyone wanted.

Panda, I started this thread for ppl to post their tokens, Civil War, Advertising, yes even Chuckee Cheese but not too many.:D Just kidding about the CC comment. Whatever you have. That Sears token up there looks pretty cool and you can still pick them up for not too much money! One of the points of this post is that you can still pick up some really great looking tokens for under $20 and in some cases $10 but there is not a price or limit on the pics posted. The last thing I want to do is regulate what pics ppl post. This is all about having fun!! ;)I picked up a Kickerbocker the other night for under $20, sure it's undated and a bit worn but it will definitely go up in price!!

I have been buying tokens and medals that talk to me for most of my life. Most have only been a few dollars each. For me it's all about the fun of looking up it's history. A few dollars goes a long ways to me.

In the 1890s Lucy Page Gaston adopted a similar strategy, leading boys and girls in the Clean Life Pledge: "I hereby pledge myself with the help of God to abstain from all intoxicating liquors as a beverage and from the use of tobacco in any form."
