Helpmeplease,the Canadian 1c. is from the 1947 Maple Leaf emergency coinage that was struck in 1948.The king that is depicted on the Canadian 1c. coin is King George VI (reigned 1936-52). In 1947,British India was partitioned into the independent countries of India & Pakistan & the title of Emperor of India became obselete.The new modified dies for the 1948 coinage wasn't ready,& there was a demand for new coins.It was decided to take the 1947 dies & modify them by adding a maple leaf after the date to signify that the coins was struck in 1948.These coins are of interest. yea the "s" minted pennys are nice.... if you went through a roll of wheats your chances of finding more than one s minted penny from the 40's is very good soo keep on lookin and you will get some more
