weight is 11.17gr It has crisp lettering, Not sure what caused bubble or the damage abouve U and at bubble. Any idea's What happened to this Coin?
The Clad Layer is still there, just sintered. If they were able to remove the clad layer it would be lighter. Do you have a scale? And no, it's not a missing clad layer. That instance usually occurs on one side only Right @cpm9ball ?
So someone probably took it to a buffer or something and just buffed off the silvery layer? The reverse looks kinda like it has polished dark clouding
I've never seen a coin missing the clad layer on both sides, so I don't know. However, I would think the strike on such a coin would be rather weak since the strike is calibrated for a planchet with both clad layers present. As for the OP's coin, I don't have the slightest idea what may have caused it. It could have been deformed by applying heat, but I don't see any discoloration one would associate with it. In this case, your guess is probably better than mine. Chris
