I searched all day long for something to excite me at the local coin show today. I got a couple of peace dollar upgrades, but what got me excited was this half that I found. I'm still working on the lighting for taking pics, a lot harder than you'd think. The coin looks a bit more grey than the pic shows. Let me know what you think and what it might grade in your opinions.

So here's a thought or question, in 1827 the mint issued about 5.4 million halves, how many of those are still around, 10%, 25% I don't know, just want to see what you guys think.

Looks like it's an O-105, R-3. How many 1827s are still around? It's one of the most common dates available for the collector with 26 know varieties/die marraiges. I'd say 1,000,000 are either for sale or locked away in collections around the world.

    Take Care

thanks guys on looking at the variety, not sure what a O-105 is but I'm going to look at bonediggers link and try to figure it out. I wish the feathers had a bit more detail because teh obverse looks great IMO. I think I did ok I love these old halves but see too many trouble free ones around much. This one will look good next to my 1830.

Ya I know the '27s are common, but just wonder how many are still around in the world.

You mind giving a ball park figure for what you paid? Beautiful coin :)

I paid $90 for the coin. Probably over paid a little bit, but the coin has eye appeal so I'm cool with it.

The coin has an absolutely gorgeous obverse!! i love it, exactly the one that would great in my type set. The reverse is a little more worn, but still an amazing coin
