I went to the bank today, as i do a few times a week, to get $200 in singles and $100 in washington's .... both banks i visit told me the same thing.. they have been ordering the new washingtons coins, but the reserve is out of them ... go figure ...on the $200 in singles ... a 1977 2 1988-A and 3 star notes ..... now the average percentage of star notes is about 1/2 of 1% of all notes printed (give or take) so to find 3 stars in a $200 bundle is ... well .. cool
OMG no.. a 1977 in CH Gem ... that would be nice.. i have found a 1963A star note that was gem .. but today all the finds are about fine, with one of the stars, a 2003A being AU ... i was just surprised at finding 3 stars ... finding star notes has been real dry for me the last few months. .. in each bundle of $200, i 'might' find 1 if any ... so finding 3 today was nice.....
no, the 1988-As i found today were not stars, and none of them were web-fed notes.... I found this cool website talking about web notes last night.... http://www.quadrigaancients.com/web/ it hasnt been updated for quite a while, but reading that site, i found that to complete my collection of web notes, i need more then just the total of 22 (+/-) i thought i needed.
Todays notes were 1999 star very good 1999 non-star Ex-F 1995 ch-gem -- not even a small fold !!!! 2004a star ($10 note) this wasnt anywhere near as good as yesterday, but ill take the 1995 gem!!!!!
are the * notes you found rare? look them up on the lookup to find out. it will turn yellow, orange, or red if its rare. if its common, it will stay white.
lol, i dont need that site to tell me... they are all pretty common.. very few of the modern notes are anything but rare ... we had a chance with the 2003A dallas notes, but then they had to go and print more =(
today, for i think the very first time.. my bank turned me away telling me they didnt have enough ones on hand to give me the amount i wanted. The teller did offer to give me $50, so i wasnt completely dissapointed. After i got back to the office, i went through the $50 notes and found a 1969A in very fine condition Its not worth much, but i just get giddy over finding them old notes -- and they say the average note is only in circulation - what 6 months or 180 days or something like that-- and then i find this one that is 40+/- years old lol
I know what you mean, I always get so hyped over anything pre 1970's... no matter the condition! I think in the end I end up spending them... since you know... i need the money and stuff
I will eat cold spam and soy burgers before i would ever spend my collection hehe But i certianly see your point
Today was a good day at the bank .. in $200 in $1 notes, i found: 1988-a H very good condition 1988-a F fine condition 1999 FW-H Star fine condition 2001 FW-G star very fine condition 2003A B star very fine condition i also got a 1999 FW-H $10 star note in very good condition on top of all the stars i got, i also found 3 1995 notes in very fine+ condition - those are keepers so, inthe end... today was a good day at the banks
those are some nice finds! hard to beleave notes that old are still out there. since a $1 bills life span is 18-22 months, those are old bills! also, do you just walk into a bank with $100 and ask for singles?
