Today I went strap searching. I looked thru 4k in singles, 1k in $5's, and 2k in $10's. I was real surprised to see how many old $1's I found so I thought I'd share todays finds here:

    Stars:
    2004A $10 GL*
    2003A $1 J*
    2006 $1 F* (640k)
    2006 $1 B*
    2006 $1 J*
    (2) 2006 $1 G*'s (1 from each run)
    2009 $1 B00316613* (pretty interesting seial number...)

    Non-Stars:
    (2) 1969D LD (VF) and BD (I found them in two different straps from two different banks so they were interesting finds, I usually don't find any that old)
    1977 LB
    1981 BI (F)
    1981A GC
    1988A FA
    (5) 1993: LG, LG, LI, KB, and BG (EF)
    (3) 1995: LY, DL, and BY
    1999 FA (EG)
    2001 CF (EF)
    (2) 2003A: LJ and FA both EF
    2009 L90111001F trinary

Today wasn't a bad day, if you ask me. I know that there are a lot of threads I keep jumping back and forth on such as 1980's notes, 2009 notes, Post your star finds, etc and I couldn't hunt down each one so I just decided to post these all together and start a new thread on it...

I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys think about these finds. I wish I could just post pictures but I am afraid I wouldn't be able to do so at this time...

4,000 singles in one day, wow. Did you list the full stats for series 1995 or just the notes that you liked? I've found 172 1995s out of 29,952 singles searched which averages to 1 out of every 174 notes that I've gone through this year.

Oh just the notes I kept. I came across far more 1995 $1's than what I listed.

4k in singles is pretty average in between paying bills and transferring $ between accounts...

    Wow.
7 grand worth of cash to strap search!? Geez. Right on t-bud :thumb:

I usually will do about $100-$200 in singles over the weekends, and will maybe pick up a $25 or $50 strap during the week, if I feel like it.
I very rarely search denominations over $2's, and when I do those, I usually just get a $200 strap.

Great finds though. Keep up the good work! :D

Oh haha it's not like I just have 7k to run around with and strap search. I only have 1k. I just go out to my car in the parking lot and search thru $1's, then I run right back in the same bank and get $5's, then $10's, then I get $20's and take those to the next bank. I just got done looking thru my last round for the day too. I looked thru another 1k worth of $1 straps. Oddly enough, I found all of these in the same exact strap out of all 10 straps. It was almost one of the last straps too. Go figure haha. These are all $1's:
    2003 LA
2001 CF (EF, this would be the second '01 CF in this condition of the day from a total different bank and a total different area even... very strange IMO, because usually any '01 $1's I find are total raggs)
    2003 F88600086F (EG trinary)
    2006 B* (640k run)
    2006 G*
    2006 J*
    2006 L*

Thanks everybody for your comments. It's certainly no rare occasion to go thru this much cash at least once a week, usually two to three times per week.

I keep everything I find. I'm looking to build up a collection not only as one heck of a hobby but also one heck of a way to get a decent savings going... So far over the last 3 years I am up to $4100 face but it has recently picked up and I am adding more and more as days go. It really is a good way to save.

It is a good way to save.

The thing about strap searching, is, you never really lose any money. Anything interesting that you find, you can tuck away, and it's a dollar saved. Whatever isn't worth saving, you just re-deposit.

    It's a win-win.

i have been seeing quite a few old-ish higher denomination bills lately as well. a couple weeks ago, i pulled that 1934 $20 and that last week, i found a handful of 1963 and 1969 singles. today, i didn't see anything older than 1988A in about $1000 worth of singles, but there's still all the other denominations to search.

people must be spending literally every last dollar they have for the holidays, including the "keepers".

See, it does make sense to strap search to save money. My wife doesn't necessarily see eye to eye with me, but the "momma doesn't know" stash is growing by the day. Nice finds tbud, your 2009 $1 *, is that considered a mini-radar?

I believe I was involved with that thread (actually, I know I was at some point because I still get email updates on it). I'll start contributing to it again. I will be going strap searching today as well with the same amout of $. I'll be posting my results here and the strap-stackers thread. The area (downtown Sac) that I was bank hopping yesterday seemed to have more older notes than star notes which is unusual. When I left downtown and came back up to my area in the outside of downtown I went to one bank to bring home and sure enough I found all of my stars for the day in that. I have lots of stars so at the moment I'm more interested in older $. I'm going up to a new area today hopefully yielding even better results than yesterday. I will keep you guys posted. Man, I sure do love strap searching though.

Absolutely. It's an exceptional way to save money at a modist rate with some nice gains over the years. Some would call it a mini-radar while some would laugh and say "haha nice marketing idea". It just depends. I would call it a semi radar or mini radar. It's interesting because the other 2009 $1 B* I have is a trinary B00033131*. So both of my 2009 $1 B*'s are fancy.

Thanks for the comment and wish me good luck on today's venture.:) This will probably be the last time for this week though.:(

I can see the fun of passing the time and maybe saving some money like you suggested, but it gets me bummed when the tellers only have ratty looking cash to check out and anything potentially nice that comes along is a dog due to a lifetime of circulating. I guess the misses are greater than the hits and I'd rather spend my time researching notes and saving up my money and time to buy better condition than accept what comes through hands at a bank (unless they are pristine straps). Besides, unless you are able to sell these notes, holding onto them isn't really saving anything you didn't have before you went into the back with.

I went strap searching again today. I don't remember who it was that started the 1999, 2001, and 2003 series thread, but since then my mind has been on those series (including 2003A) and oddly enough I have had the best luck yet with these series since then! I just now found my first 2001 $1 F* in circulation (I already had 2 but I got them for face from a friend). It is extemely nice condition. I also found an '06 $1 K*. So, whoever started the 1999, 2001, and 2003 thread, can you get a thread going about how you don't see anymore 1928B $2 *'s in circulation any more?

Anyways here are of todays finds, and I'm not quite done yet:
    1985 $1 ED
    1999 $1 JA
    2001 $1 F* AU
    2003 $1 KC XF
    2003A $1 L11111893N 5 in a row VF
2003A $1 LL VF (I'm still thinking about this one as a keeper, it's just real nice shape...)
    2003A $1 LQ XF (")
    2006 $1 K*

Thats it. I'll be posting the rest of todays finds later on today or tomorrow morning...

2003A $1 LP XF (I have no idea why I am coming across so many '03A $1's all of the sudden...)

Well, I already put away this mornings finds and I mixed them all up in my collection so I really have no idea what is new for this morning - but I can tell you guys whats new from round 2, which is more exciting anyways! Okay, so first off, I finally found my 2006 Cleveland $1 *! It took me long enough, but I have it! That is the "highlight" of today, but here are the rest of my keepers:
    2001 $1 JA
    2001 $1 FA
    2001 $1 BG (EF)
    2006 $1 D*
    2009 $1 B*
    1988A $10 LC
    2006 $20 IK* SOI (EF)

Once again, not so bad after all. It's weird too because I have literally been looking for a 2006 $1 D* forever and I thought about not stopping by at the bank on my home but at the last second I decided to do it. Sure enough. I'm so glad I decided to stop.:D

This thread is getting lame with no one else posting their finds besides myself, anyone want to spice it up a bit?:hail:
