Today I got my 1st Icelandic coin !

Hopefully it will be the first of many. I know I can do better, but for 50 cents I'm happy with it!

Padrig Pierce an Irish Patriot. Executed by the British during the "Easter Uprising" of 1916. The other side is Culuchanin from the Irish sage "The Tain".

pronounced poraic it is the gaelic spelling of patrick, my great uncle was a member of pearses volunteers and later became an aide to michael collins, hence my love of all things irish.............back on topic though that's a nice coin to start an icelandic collection with.

Ahhhh such a small world, in this modern age. Two of my grandparents were from Kerry. My other two Grandparents were from Quebec. I liked your pubs and horse racing very much in the UK, when I last visited there.

 

I've been to Ireland 3 times, it is by far my favorite place in the world. In fact Irish coinage is what got me interested in world coins to begin with.

 

living near liverpool there is a very strong irish influence in the city, mainly due to the port being the point of embarkation to the USA for irish immigrants.

 

it is also one of mine but my favourite place to visit is the french region of brittany.

 

Never been there but if it's anything like Ireland I would love it!

 

I'm going to a coin show this weekend, I hoping to enlarge my Iceland collection. I'm not sure it there will be any world dealers there but I can dream....
