Here is a selection of my coins that are either worth more than usual, or are very pretty.

    Are they worth slabbing?
I am thinking ICG or ANACS, because I don't really want to pay money for a membership just so I can pay more money to get it certified.
Which of those two is "best"?

    Summary of coins (pictures below):
which of these is worth the cost and effort?
    1889 CC Morgan
    1882 CC Morgan
    1883 CC Morgan
    1884 CC Morgan
    1903 Morgan
    1854 3 cent silver
    1931 S Buffalo
    1938 D Buffalo
    1857 Seated Liberty Dime
    1917 Standing Liberty Quarter
    1939 D Washington
    1888 S Eagle

Save your money and just put 'em in airtights. Not worth the cost of grading. Just too danged much for a 'fancy' holder.......

Hands down, the 1889 CC Morgan. There are so many deceptive fakes of that coin.

    Good idea!
Now the real question ... ICG or ANACS...
OR NUMISTRUST! Maybe I'll get an AU grade with them :)

Why are you ruling out NGC? If you are going to pay money to increase liquidity, might as well go with one of the big boys.
For about $100 you get a submission credit anyway, which would save you some money.

I'd be tempted to slab the Unc CCs and definitely the 1889 CC, if for no other reason so it doesn't get damaged by accident. If PCGS and NGC are out of the question, if be inclined to go ANACS.

I see two coins in the lot IMHO worth grading the 1903 Morgan, the 82 CC is 62/63 lot of scars on her. Some of your coins have been cleaned ie the Buffalo's and re toned AT. The rest are vf - XF you can buy these same coins graded already a lot cheaper than having them graded. Plus you won't have to worry about detail grades. The 39 quarter would grade. The 1888 S may grade not in hand I can't tell if its been cleaned.
I say horse trade what you have and use the money you're looking to spend to up grade to coins already slabed,

Thanks for your replies! I'll think about one of the big guys, or maybe keep em raw for now. I store these in cointainer things and albums, so I guess that's safe enough for now

NTC? In my opinion, you would be better off buying a Coin World slab for a $1 or $2. I also think you are wasting money your money with ICG or ANACS in the current market as some will treat the newer coins as raw. (That does not mean that I do not think there are nice coins; rather, the holders just don't add much, if any, liquidity in the current market).

Is the 1931s buffalo cleaned? Darn, I was hoping it was just shiny.
And I guess the 1938 buffalo is artificially toned then... Did look too good to be true...
About the 1903 Morgan - what impact would the little bit of corrosion on the back have?

Good point. Its too bad that ngc and pcgs have cornered the market. I rather like the look of the anacs holder..

I would send the 1889-CC to PCGS or NGC.

Join the ANA for around 30$ then request an NGC account (free).
