So I went to the bank this week to pick up my 2 boxes of pennies to search through for wheaties, coppers, and errors. To my surprise they are all brand spanking new 2008 D pennies. I haven't opened the boxes yet, I just look through all the holes at the top of the box and saw they are all new. Do you all think I should open them up and search them for errors, or should I sell them here on cointalk, or should I just return them to the bank? I am hesitant to search them because the mint recently started checking the pennies with computers to prevent errors. So does anyone know of there being any errors in 2008 D pennies? What would you do?
You can possibly for a favor for collectors by keeping a few rolls up and the rest is up to your discretion. Sure, why not search them to keep yourself busy and if you did find anything usual, you win. They are always worth face value nevertheless.
I would search through various rolls, maybe 2 or 3 throughout the box and see if there is a pattern of 08's or a mixture. If they are all the same, turn em back in and find anotherr bank
there is already one minor DDR listed on coppercoins.com. You can't find others unless you look! Richard
send one to every poster to this thread at cost plus shipping plus a quarter if you decide not to keep. Some of us can not find them yet!
Well I opened up a roll, and they all have "speckles" on them. I assume they are water spots from being washed? Would those speckles hurt their numismatic value? What if they are MS-68 or 69?
i would keep a few rolls .rember the new cent comes out next year and who knows what will hapen after that
