Ive seen a ton of threads on whether or not your silver is real silver or a real coin, referring to usually morgans BUT if you really want to know a simple way if your coin has silver content is to simply put ice on your coin. The way silver reacts with it would be melting as soon as you put the ice on it since silver is a heat conductor and will melt if your coin had any silver content in it. The obvious fakes out there with certain dates and mints you shouldn't waste time on but if you want to test this is one way. Also magnets but not everyone has those. Everyone should have ice!

    Cheers

P.S didn't know where to post this so general coin chat should suffice.

The tissue test is another old fashioned home test to tell if a coin is silver, and yes it works. But it too will render a false reading if the coin is plated.

And that's kind of the thing, even the most modern testing methods can be beat, specific gravity, an XRF, an acid test - they can all be beat in one way or another. The one and only test that can't be beat when testing for silver is an assay, but even an assay cannot tell you if a coin is genuine or not because many fakes are made with the correct silver fineness.

Bottom line, about the only thing that can confirm if a coin is genuine or not is an in hand examination by someone qualified to do that examination for that specific coin. And please note I did not use the word "expert" here, and I did not because there are many so called "experts" who are not qualified to do the examination. And as a result often declare a coin to be genuine when it isn't.

All metals are heat conductors. Some conduct better than others. Silver conducts heat the best but some others aren't that far off as Desert Gem mentioned.

Well some metals cannot compare to the silver and gold is what I should of said. But i'm almost positive silver is one of the best

Put a silver coin and a clad coin on a flat surface and place a white Kleenex on top both of them at the same time. The silver will show up as white.

That's basically it, but I'd phrase it slightly differently - the silver coin will show as being a lighter shade of color than the clad does.
