Hello, I've always liked collecting older things and have recently gained interest into the coin world. What brought me in was this old 1943 steel wheat penny. It is very dirty and rusted. Normally I wouldn't bother much on this penny but it seems to have multiple errors but I cannot see it well enough to be 100% certain. It looks like most of the zinc coating is gone, what should I do?
Buy another one in better condition. They're really not that expensive to get in acceptable condition. And welcome to the forum.
I may do that! The only reason I have interest in this one is because it looks like it may be double stamped or misprinted. (Sorry don't know all the terms yet)
Machine doubling I think the errors are not like the date stamped twice near the same spot. It just seems like there's random letters, marks, numbers and words in the wrong places. Thanks for your help btw
I can, so here is what a 1943 cent looks like, Same as any "wheatie" cent just a different color. To help you compare. And Welcome to CT.
I found a penny with a missing letter e in the e pluribus unum area of the coin does that have any significance True Value I have to try and find the year I put the coin away with a bunch of other coins I have to look it up
Please if anybody can get back to me I actually have a lot of pennies that I found some Indian Head some older wheat pennies and I don't know if any of these things are worth anything of value
Several different things depend on whether your coins have value. Date and condition are first. You may want to purchase the RED BOOK by Whitman, sometime you can buy last years edition at a discount, it is a good guide to start with, and has good information you may need.If you can post photos of them here on Coin Talk someone will help you with questions. Look around at different forums and get some information.
@Jvegas702 Hello. What you should really do is create your very own unique thread. This thread is concerning a 1943 wheat cent. Don't be concerned about the values so much. Billions of wheat and Indian cents were minted and most are not high premium. Post pictures also.
