I was wondering if anyone else is planning on attending the Texas Numismatic Association show in Fort Worth this weekend? As it stands now I will be there for a portion of Friday afternoon and again on Saturday with Joe. He's been saving his allowance (I have too ) and it's burning a hole in his pocket! Link with show info...scroll down for times and directions.
Wish I could but I'm going to be going on a 7 hour trip to see my Grandpa and Grandma...If Joe is like me it will burn right through and when he sees that NICE coin he needs and is a few dollars short he will look soo nicely into your eyes and say one word..."Please" and he will walk home with a new coin!!!!! Just wait till he gets to the age when he can work on a farm like I have been doing...then he will get some cash on hand to get the coins he needs!! Speedy
Speedy...That is EXACTLY what he does! LOL, little stinker, I just can't say no to that face Although it sure will be nice when he gets a job to pay for his habit himself...that will leave more funds for me
I thought it might be...right now with my jobs (6 total) I'm trying to get my dealer to find a Proof IHC!!! Also I'm going to try to complete my set of Cents 1909-Date...and that is a BIG order! Speedy
well i can try to look at my mom and say please but the only problem is that im over a foot taller and she'll just smirk but ill show Joe the tricks and sadly joesmom, ull be spending more checks that paper bills
Well I made it to the show today for a few hours...whew, what a day! I finally got to meet 'tradernick'. He was walking the floor wheeling & dealing, what a great guy. Watch out for them wild cowgirls there in downtown Fort Worth LOL And 'tanner520' arrived later in the afternoon as well. Even though he lives around here and we've both gone to several local shows, this was the first we've met. I'm really excited about the new direction your collecting is taking I decided to go for a few hours today to do my own shopping before taking Joe tomorrow when I know the crowds will be bad. But I tell ya, if I had a buck for every time someone asked where Joe was I probably could have bought a couple more coins Apparently he has quite a fan club! I came home with a few goodies to add to my type set (FINALLY got my Texas Commem, what a BEAUTY! Bright white & MS65, I'm gonna try and work on this whole pic thing tonight...promise), another Morgan (of course ) and a few other odds and ends. GD, I was looking for another gold angel but gosh darn ya, you've spoiled me. They all looked like junk! LOL But overall a very productive day. Tomorrow is for Joe's shopping (unless I happen to stumble across something else...always possible) and the youth auction in the afternoon. Our plans have changed to allow us to stay for that. Should be loads of fun!
Now, now - I didn't spoil ya - I gave ya knowledge. You just remember that little doodad when you look at any coin. That's how ya get an eye for coins. Worth many times its weight in gold
Spider, I couldn't bring Joe today because he was in school...tomorrow will be his day to shop. GD, I can't thank you enough for the valuable education. Just trying to find another to measure up is no easy task...you've helped set the bar pretty high
Sounds like you had a great time...wish I could have been at a coin show!!! Oh well....maybe this fall I can go to the one I like near me. Speedy
Was a great show, and nice to meet Joesmom and Joe. Got to shake hands with Tanner too. I saw one of the nicest coins I've seen in awhile at that show. A 1652 New England 3p Pine Tree Shilling...completely original, never cleaned, great eye appeal, choice xf. I'm not too familiar with that market so I researched the coin and value that night and went back to buy it the next morning....but it was gone, dangit. Ah well. Overall my trip to TX was profitable and a lot of fun. Nick
Robin and Tradernick, finally good to meet ya in person. Had a great time. Most tables I've seen at one show in a while. And man did I go Morgan-happy this weekend or what? There were lots of fine examples and lots of dealers makin' deals. Wow! Shhhhh....don't tell the wife how much I spent.
I'm still learning, but let's see how this comes out..... The pic of the reverse didn't come out too well, I need to try that one again.
NICE!!!!---you have a good eye!!! I saw a few older BU comms today too but didn't buy any...also saw a NICE 1921 Peace Dollar but since I'm working out a few deals didn't get that one either...I'll just have to wait till the show!!! Speedy
