I've got a 2011 Eagle that was graded MS70 by NGC. I noticed that there a tiny black spot in the center of the coin. Looks like a tiny small dot or dust. In a certain angle this tiny dot is very silvery shiny white. It's hard to see it in the scan but Ive included it in my post. Does anyone know what this is?
You might want to call NGC, 800-642-2646, to ask how they will remedy it. It may be covered by the grade guarantee. They may want to try to conserve it through NCS or just pay you outright for the coin. Chris
Appaent Flaws In Grading I found it hilarious that someone would complain about the commonplace errors in grading, as I've also received what I believe is blatant grading discrepancies in PCGS PR70 coins. I was thinking that maybe the standards have been diminished to where one must purchase plus graded coins, with CAC approval, and whoever is to follow with approval for CAC grading, before we can receive that which one should expect in a "perfect grade". I know, don't purchase the holder "sight unseen". Maybe we should only be using the TPG for "genuine" grading, where we could at least minimize the expense of protecting our "investment". :thumb:
Just wanted to know if anyone know what it is and if it might get worst. The funny part is this coin is part of a 25th anniversary set. All the other four got 69 and they looked more perfect to me than this one that got 70.
Simple answer - it's a flaw in the finish. Just about all of the ASEs have 1 or more of those tiny shiny spots.
