    Hi all!

I recently purchased a coin graded by NGC from an online auction. I received the coin the other day. I like the coin very much. However, it is very tilted in the NGC holder. The top of the obverse is tilted towards the front of the holder and the bottom of the reverse is tilted towards the back. The coin is tilted so far that it appears as if those portions of the coin may be touching the clear part of the holder. I'm sure some of you have seen this before. Is there anything I can do about this? Did NGC slab this coin crooked like this or does a coin become like this after being moved around a lot?

    Thanks.

my guess is that the slab was either a little loose, or else someone dropped it, and it landed at an angle that caused the coin to shift. I'm not real familiar with slabs, but I don't think I have ever seen one intentionally mounted at an angle before.

When a grader puts the coin in the slab it can go in like that...it doesn't hunt the coin IMO and all it does is make it hard to take a photo....
You can send it back for reholdering....

I don't have an NGC account. Would they reholder my coin anyway?

Oh, this is Off Topic, but...another question about NGC. I see that for many of their service levels, it says "5 Coin Minimum" (same for PCGS). Does that mean that you have to have 5 coins to submit at that level or can you have 5 coins total even if they don't all qualify for the same service level? I mean, shoot, I'm not going to have 5 old gold coins to submit all at once any time soon. :goofer:

You have to send in 5 coins for that level of service...at least that is how ANACS does it...

Best way to get answers to question like this - call them and ask ;)

I have fixed a couple of tilted coins in holders by touching a vibrator to different areas of the holder. Try it.

Speedy, are you sure about the five coin thing with ANACS? On their website, when talking about pricing, it says for example Economy 1-9 coins. $12 each plus shipping. That makes me think you could submit less than 5 coins. I would think it would say 5 - 9 coins if that were the case.

Now if you do that most of the time you aren't getting the deal....I was talking about where if you send in 5+ coins you get the "deal" like the older gold deal....or the like
Now for the Economy you can send in 1 or 9 but there is no deal in that like we were talking about...but if you send in 10 then you get a deal.
