I recieved permission at a old home site today and had some success. Here are the pictures. Check out the condition of the 1896. The 1891 will clean up about as nice. The wheaties in the pic of the entire haul are a 1909 and two 1910s. The best find though is the civil war Infantry button. Cool stuff. I also like the detail on the broach with diamonds. Wish the diamonds were real. Who knows. Fun time out on this flag day in Michigan.
Great finds.:thumb: I love to see what you have dug up next, but I have to say it makes me jealous and really makes me want to get my detector out. If only I didn't work 8 days a week.
I got a detector recently, I have been playing with it so far. But I live in an old house, and the place next door was built in 1864 so....:thumb:
Jim - Your posts are so exciting. It is unbelievable to think what is lurking just under our feet. You need to create an album library on CT and post all the pics of your finds. Everyone will then just need to go to your CT album and can see everything you have dug up. That would be totally awesome! Hope you consider it. Joe
Neat finds & thanks for sharing! How do you suppose an infantry button from the civil war made its way into the Michigan woods?
Well, more than likely from a returning soldier. I have found other civil war uniform buttons at old home sites. The one that really stumped me was a confederate button I found from North Carolina. Again, had to be from a returning soldier as a souvenier off of a conf. soldier. My guess is as good as yours. Thanks all for the congrats. Jim
