three digit date

    Can someone give me information about my wheat penny which has only "194 " for a date. It has been confirmed to be a miss-stamped penny.

    Apparently… it’s the oldest wheat cent known to man…

    pictures would help...

    sounds like its a grease filled die or someone 'tooled' the last didgit off of there

    Without pictures I can guess PMD with pictures I can determine PMD from a Grease filled die.

    Struck through grease or sheared off like the others said. It's hard to tell from your pics. Regardless, it's just a conversation piece.
