    Smallest. Pictures. Ever.

Funny thing is, they aren't much smaller than the coins themselves :p

So is the coin counterfeit or not? I can't see the details.

I can see the details and it is obviously a contemporary forgery - probably Civil War era. It might have fooled someone that was drunk and in a dark bar, but otherwise it is obviously a forgery.

Thanks. Hope there's new photos eventually. Don't think I have ever seen a counterfeit 3 cent piece.

Contemporary counterfeits are often, ahem, "neet", but since I cannot actually see it....

Post smaller pictures! I can still identify this as a 3 cent piece.

It is the only time I have ever seen a picture shrink when you click on the icon to see the full picture.

Wrong, the dimensions are exactly the same.

On my screen, the icon is 3/4" (bottom of the page after you get the "larger" image) and the picture is 5/8".

My understanding from the experts is that they are not UNCOMMON. But not plentiful either. I've seen them offered for sale as such for a little bit more than a genuine item of the same date & grade.

Most dealers will not sell them as the legality is questionable - even properly attributed.
