What's your thoughts on the grade and if it is a 1901 s it's a 4000 dollar coin in g 4 so before I take any chances I wanna see some opinions and no the action Price is no where near that at all. There is no S. This is a 1901 Philadelphia quarter.

Yeah also not seeing the S. Even on a worn coin (let's say AG-03) the mm almost always stands out and is legible especially under magnification.
You don't have to look for it. It will be there. This quarter is worth melt, while a
1901-S in this condition is probably $3500.

A $4K coin would be graded in a TPG holder. Save your money. coinflation.com lists this at $3.72.

Ok that's what I was wondering and I was only looking into bidding up to 200 if it was what it says it was. And I know usually something like that is graded already but this came into an auction house around where my grandparents live and it was broken out of a complete set of barber quarters and there was sets of even commen stuff like Benji's so i figured I would ask to see if it was Worth a shot I think someone had a relative pass away and put all this into actuion.

    Whoops looking at another post.
Yes $3.72 on the silver melt value,
    and because it's a Barber, $5.

    Look closer @Michael K it's a quarter dollar not a half dollar.

I edited my post 1 minute after I posted.
I was looking at another post with a capped bust half and got confused.

For those that collect the most worn coins they can find, it might be worth a premium over melt.

There are lots and lots of Barber quarters that are a lot more worn than that, though. For a true lowball, I'd need to just barely be able to make out enough of the digits to determine the date, and enough of the mintmark to fix that as well.

It almost looks like that "S" was written onto the flip with a different hand. But I suppose the person who originally put it into the flip might have been a pareidolia buff, too.
