This was in the change I was handed at a little market yesterday, I just wanted to share it because I think it's pretty neat,,I know what it is, I've just actually never seen one before, and these pictures do not do it justice.
Nice SBA.. When we use the Subway Station Metrocard machines here in NYC they dispense Sacagewea and SBA Dollar Coins as change. There are still many an circulation even though they are not too popular.
I also find them when I Metal Detect. Dug this SBA yesterday.. Not in the best of shape but I still keep them.
Metal detecting??? This sounds like something I'd like to try..I bet there are some really neat finds, thank you for sharing
I have dozens of Metal Detecting threads here on CoinTalk https://www.cointalk.com/threads/metal-detecting-193x-mercury-dime.359008/#post-4412049
Sometimes, you will find these given out by clerks as quarters because they know nothing about collecting coins. One of the reasons the Susie B. lasted just 3 years in production was because it was easily confused with the quarter. ~ Chris
I recall in my metal detecting 'DAYS OF YORE' finding a stack if 5 - SBA's 'uglies' buried in a H.U.D. house yard. I tumble cleaned the lot and spent it on a couple bottles of 2-Buck Chuck! J.T.
