Saw this posting on eBay - http://cgi.ebay.com/1889-CC-Morgan-...dividual&hash=item4cf89e2f8e&autorefresh=true It's clearly a collectors although the seller makes no mention of that. Thankfully, it did not sell for much, but I wonder if they buyer realizes what they purchased (or if they're jumping for joy right now thinking they got the bargain of the century).
Well, it is listed in the Replicas/Reproductions section, and it did go for a price that's in line for a reproduction. But, yeah, since I don't see "COPY" anywhere in the photo, title or description, it's technically non-compliant.
I see "replicas/reproductions" now that you mention it, but it came up on a general search I did for "US Coins".
Google is your friend. National Collector's Mint, Inc. is an independent, private corporation not affiliated with, endorsed, or licensed by the U.S. government or the U.S. Mint. All tributes to original coins contain the "copy" designation as mandated by federal law.
Yep, I did Google NCI and thankfully found that info before placing a bid on the item! Still, I really wonder if the buyer knew what he was getting. Hopefully yes.
