I had a friend email me about this. I know about this guy from my friend who lives in Gainesville. This XX is a real low-life.

This guy is like a scum bag shadow. My friend says never knows when this guy is going to show up. I've heard stories about this guy for years from my pal. He jokes about it but that does not mean it a humorous affair.

He is some 50 year old man who goes around begging for a job and he always has some scam up his leg. I guess he has been saying for yeas that he has coins from his dad in some estate and needs to sell them 'fast'. Consider that red flag #1. He sells laughably dipped coins, counterfeits, 'unsearched rolls' that are a BS, etc.

Let us examine his latest fraud. Look at the 2nd picture of this entire collection. Why is it got like a shadow filter? Because he it is all junk. So why did the scam artists get people to bid over $1000? Well first off people like to bid on a mystery. People always think they are going to find a 1922 High Relief tucked away but that does not get you to $10000.

Look at this third picture. Oh my. This guy collection has a ton of MORGANS!! Holy cow this is worth a killing. $1000 is a steal!!.

If it is too good to be true.....

My friend said he has seen this guy with horribly bad 1882 Morgans with 'cc' mint marks that look like they were glued on so they might be counterfeits but he said he knows what this is. This big list of Morgans is going to be copper-plated fakes.

This idiot says that ENTIRE collection is just over 22 pounds. Ok well lets do the math.
According to his little BS, hand written list of 'silver dollars'. Let us just do the Morgans and Peace Dollars. His list comes out to 610 Morgans/Peace dollars.

Morgans and Peace each weigh 26.73 grams.
    26.73 * 610 =16305.3 grams.
    16305.3 grams to pounds = 35.95 pounds.

    Math does not lie.

So the Morgans and Peace alone which are a a fraction of this collection is ALONE over 14 pounds more than he says the collection weighs.

Funny how he claims to have 610 Morgans/Peace yet we get no pictures of all of those. We get ONE picture of 12 of them and then we get half a dozen picture of junk IHC and Wheaties. Odd huh?

I know I sound like a broken record but can we all please flag this. Click on the link and on the right-hand side of the top of the description is a "Report Item". I think report it for misleading but what exactly is the best thing to flag it for? I am asking all of you Ebay pros.

Auctions like this hurt us all. We have to be more proactive in stopping this stuff. If just a dozen or so of us flag it we can get it removed which will hopefully stop it before the buyer pays or the payment clears. Some of you will say that the buyer has Buyer Protection. Well first off that does no always work. I am not going to go over but there are a FEW ways clever scam artist can get around the Buyer Protection Policy and leave the novice buyer with the crap. Lastly--so what? It still hurts us all. It perpetuates the scam artist to try it again and let's say that the buyer gets his money back. You can bet that this guy will of already taken the money and run. So Paypal will try and collect and fail (My friend says Jim owes more people than there are seashells on Coco Beach) and so guess what? Us, the consumer, eat the cost.

Lets find the best way to flag it and lets just shut it down. It is a small victory for the good guys.

Well his feedback seems ok, but the pictures and insistence on NOT answering questions are a flag to me.

I think there a ton of flags. The big one is he is selling 610 silver dollars for $1001 and that he apparently lives on the Moon as that is the only way he could get ANYWHERE near that weight.

It seems to be still up.
If we flag it then it would be deleted and the link would no longer work.
The link works for me still and takes me to the auction.

That's strange, I see "Bidding has ended on this item". According to the page, auction ended March 12th at 4:13 AM.

It did end but it is still 'valid'.
Ebay is not dumb---you can flag the auction even after the auction is down. A lot of scam artists try and run 24 hour auctions and slip through but they get removed afterwards.

If we flag it then we can get it deleted and
    A) It will go on seller's record and he will at least feel some pressure
    B) If the winner has paid already it will freeze things and expedite him getting his money back
    but hopefully..
    C) The winner has not paid or payment has not cleared and we can flag it and get it down so this guy cannot steal $1000 that we as Ebay/Paypal users then have that cost passed down to us.

    Please flag here:

Where exactly does he say there are 610 silver dollars in the lot. Other than the photos of the lists, the guy seems pretty straight forward. It is one of near countless sucker bait listings on ebay, and really it is more obvious than most, so why single this guy out?

You come here with just a handful of posts, slinging mud and naming names. Your "friend" says this and says that... so what? Why should anyone believe "him" or you for that matter? To be totally honest with you, your initial post throws out at least as many red flags as his listing, and makes it look like there is more to the story than you are not telling us.

    @BooksB4Coins
I do not even know how to reply to that.
I mean honestly---what are you talking about?

    1) I wrote a very well thought out post and breakdown and you basically ask me what is wrong? I am sorry but are you kidding me?
They guy has a huge collection but the only picture of the entire collection is purposefully shadowed out. Clearly done on purpose.
    2) "Where exactly does he say there are 610 silver dollars in the lot"

Again---are you just trying to start trouble? I mean the THIRD picture has a hand written piece of paper that says "Silver Dollars" on it and has a list of the years of Morgans, Peace, Ikes and the quantity.
A matter of fact the scum bag makes sure to try and squirm out of it by saying and I quote directly from the description:

"I posted some pictures of lists that I found with the coins, but just to be clear, I have not counted these coins and I don't think the lists are correct. So those lists may not be accurate, sorry"

    3)
He then goes on and again I am quoting DIRECTLY from the description:

"There are a lot of silver half dollars wrapped in newspaper, silver quarters wrapped in newspaper, silver dimes wrapped in newspaper, not many nickels, and a lot of wheat cents wrapped in newspaper, some in cardboard holders."

Yet he post ZERO pictures of these 'lot' of silver coins. He post a few small random wraps of newspaper that shows nothing.

Sir I find your entire post defending a insanely obvious scam and then (And this is so odd I am totally perplexed) stating that me calling out this obvious scam raises 'red flags' to be beyond insulting. It is insulting personally but also just intellectually insulting.

Actually you can add me to that list as I wonder why you are singling out this one person when there seems to be many more of similar ilk or worse. You can certainly report it to eBay if you wish, but I see nothing in your post to make me want to do so . Too much hearsay. I personally would never bid on it, or any thing similar. So as booksB4coins seems to ask , why is this particular person worth the pitchforks and torches? I also sense there may be something personal in this other than just defending the eBay bidders from an alleged scammer. You can discuss as you wish, but keep the personal comments to members within the rules as their opinions are respected also. Thanks Jim

And, sir; I find this entire thread to be in at least as poor taste as the listing itself. You have made it very clear that there is more to this than just a questionable offering. You could have made your point without posting this person's real name or spewing personal insults supposedly coming from this unnamed "friend", but no... instead of taking the high road, here you are repeatedly calling this fellow a "scumbag" and asking people to help you report his listing under the guise of protecting the foolish. Sorry, but I am not buying it; if anyone came here to "start trouble", it certainly wasn't me.

I take all scams personal but most of them are easily caught. There is some idiot on Ebay right now running a 1 day auction for a amazing 1795 dollar (fake of course) and has shill bidders up to 7k already.
So I of course am going to go after the ones that are successful. That should be obvious.
Also I have heard about this guy for years so of course it gives me a little more pep in my step.

The idea of "Why are you targeting this scam artists when there many others" is totally illogical. Just because we can't catch them all we should just ignore the problem? Silly.

The guy is a scum bag. Plain and simple and anybody who is going to try and defend other wise is part of the problem.

So @BooksB4Coins I have no idea what you are 'not buying' because nothing is for sale. It appears you are looking for some great Shyamalan Twist. Sorry.
I am sad you would try and defend this scumbag by saying "Where exactly does he say there are 610 silver dollars in the lot.(sic)" when he clearly does and it is also sad you would call this guy "straightforward" when he is the antithesis of that.

So to summarize I am going after this guy because I am aware of it; I can't get EVERY scam artist but mainly because this guy is SUCCESSFUL. I am not going to be really upset about the guy selling fake 1803 Dollars that are so bad a 6 year old could make a more convincing one with a hammer. I am going to go after the ones that are sliding by.

If even 10 people on here took 10 seconds to flag this guy and others like him---we could at least set them back.

Sadly we are on here trying to defend the scam artist.

The seller has a 100% fb score, not bad at all. If he's such a "scumbag" it surely don't show in his ebay sales thus far. I would never report someone with a 100% feedback score simply on a "say so".

    100% means nothing.
    See:dannyleefricker.

He had 2000 feedback that was 100% positive that took a few years to get and he was selling coins with artificial cameos and such.

100% feedback means jack. A MAJORITY of the scam artist on Ebay have 100% feedback. Bad policy you have.

If a guy has a spot less criminal record and then gets caught robbing a bank----he still robbed the bank. This auction is clearly a complete fraud and that is all that matters.

    Planman 2014,

I do not know you or the individual selling on eBay.

The auction isn’t anything I would be interested in, but I see nothing wrong with it. If someone wants to bid on it, that is their business, I fail to see what you are saying as to why this is a bad action.

You claim this auction is a “fraud” but really show nothing to support this claim beside some bad pictures.

What is your eBay handle? If anyone needs to be reported, maybe it is you for “Interfering with an auction”

Lol the guy works too much and "doesn't have the time" to take 5 minutes to count how many silver dollars there are, but he can make a listing, upload 7 pictures, and respond 3 separate times.

You know what they say about a fool and his money.
