This guy has five non-silver British coins listed for sale. He says they're silver but the pictures are clear and anyone who knows anything can see what they are and that they aren't silver. Yet the bid is up to $7, with $3.50 shipping. I know there are idiots on eBay, but usually people don't bid on foreign silver unless they know what it is. I can't believe eight people fell for this already. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-silver-...7324913?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item4ac2e45971
I see a lot of dealers saying "silver" and they can get away with it because they are using the word to mean the color, not the metal. Ebay is just weird. Tons and tons of cheap things go for way too much. Almost all of the deals I can evr get there anymore require a little more money. The last lot of PM I got there was a lot of mexican. There was like 50 silver coins, and a few dos pesos. Seems like people weren't willing to pony up for that big of a lot, so I got it for around half melt.
Generally I think you're more likely to find silver world coins listed with no mention of them being silver. You will almost never find a deal on U.S. coins on eBay because too many people collect them and know what they are. But I often see world coins that are not silver listed as silver, but usually no one bids because people don't bid on silver unless they know what it is. Personally I'm a collector, not a silver hoarder, but if I see a good deal on it, I'll buy it and resell it just to make a little quick money.
