Wow... the melt value of the merc's alone are worth three times the sell price of the entire auction. I guess there are plenty of bargains to be had on the 'bay.
The notation of the dimes being cleaned might of put some bidders off. Many people do not really think melt value of the smaller coins some times.
The auction was up for one minute and 14 seconds. There wasn't time for anybody to be put off. List a lot of any 90% silver at a BIN price even 15% below melt, and it'll be snatched up in moments -- unless it's hidden in a poor auction description, or the listing appears while Zack's (29957blue) is in the middle of spamming a few hundred relistings, or something else lets it escape the notice of the BIN vultures.
That is crazy!! Though, the seller does have only a 7 feedback.....as long as the seller ships. Perhaps the seller, well, apparently the seller HAD NO CLUE about coins, or numismatics? That's the only thing I can fathom. But, then, look at their starting price for the 5 proof Sacs. Sumthin' just ain't right! I can't see enough bidders being put off, that this lot only fetched $59.99, though you are right, it could potentially put SOME off, but this still should have gone for way more. I hope the winner gets the package....especially at only $2.95 shipping. $62.96 total, including shipping, not including ebay/PP fees, and it's going to cost a whole lot more than $2.95 to ship that package. I'd be afraid that I just won a lot that, like jloring said, contained more than 3 times the bid in silver alone (the IHC's could be another $50, the Buffs...etc), and have it go 'lost', and only receive my bid plus shipping. Now, before anyone lays into me about 'ripping' the seller, they did, in fact, list an item, and started it at what they thought was a fair price....so, seller beware. I still can't believe that only got 1 bid, especially with PP holding the funds until proof of delivery. Great, no TREMENDOUS pick by the buyer if it gets delivered, as described/imaged.
Yep... like Jeff said above, this BIN was sold withing two minutes of posting. Really crazy... I think numismania may be on to something.
I did not notice that it was a BIN when I looked at it earlier. And yes somebody did not know what they had when they listed it.
