I know many of you are still awake waiting for the New Year! Just decided to make my final thread for 2023 So. I know this is probably crazy but I only want to bring this up because of something I just read on a Facebook coin page. Have you ever seen when someone asks "How much is this worth?" And somebody responds 100$... Seriously? The correct way of stating that would be $100.00, the dollar sign goes before the number! Well for the first time I just saw someone ask how much a 1971 Kennedy Half Dollar is worth. The response was.. 50. Arrrrrrrrg.. not 50. It's .50 !!!!!!!!!! This is my last rant for 2023 Happy New Year to all!
I have a rant, I get to be outside and watch my neighbor get tormented by fireworks. yeah they are illegal, but what makes someone call the cops, or take video of said neighbor in order to get them in trouble. Is that really fun? Well this isn't a rant technically because I am gonna stand out in front of the house, watch the fireworks, and also laugh at my pestered neighbors. It was only a year ago that this guy and his wife tried to get me to pay restitution for something that I didn't do. The courts just vindicated me. So, yeah this new years will be interesting compared to the last few. Happy New year in a couple of hours.
I know a guy that texts numbers like that. It's hard to understand...if they are going to be using all the characters?? Why not do it the right way...must be the new math they teach nowadays Your fifty cents should be $0.50
If you want to find scammers and poorly educated people, go to Facebook. When Zuckerberg opened it up to non-college students, the site was ruined.
Sadly it’s going to get worse! Social media is destroying many. My opinion of course. Our education systems. Disturbing!
I think I could be some people have bad memory.Since the percent sign goes on the right and if you do it enough you get used to putting symbols on the wrong side by an accident. My ADHD would totally trigger this to happen if I did it enough and my brain would refuse to put it in the correct spot.
Someone was actually lighting really loud fireworks a few streets down last night. Apparently a bunch of people complained since a police chopper was flying around.
Could be kids in school spend too much time on Facebook when they should have their nose in a real book.
It got loud around here. lots of mortor style shells. I went in when all the dumb asses were unloading clips from their handguns. Hopefully into something and not in the air.
Social media is a problem along with the quality of education. It has opened the door for more depressed young people. If they don’t get enough views or likes it can and does effect their mental well being. Where peer pressure used to be localized to a small group or school, now it’s open to millions. Many young people can’t handle rejection on such a large scale in front of their group of friends. As it is now, without social media many in this age group feel isolated if they aren’t plugged in 24/7. It’s a festering time bomb.
It's a broader issue than just social media. People love to make social media the scapegoat, but really it's just a vessel. I can use social media and not have any of those issues. I dont' use it alot and I dont' feel any need to be on it all the time or get any sort of confirmations from posting. It's not really different than any other addiction - gambling, drinking, smoking. Some people can do those things and never develop an issue. Others get literally addicted. It all depends on that person's reward center and brain chemistry. Education is also a factor. All that to say - "the problem" isn't any 1 or 2 things, society has changed as it has in the past and we need to adapt and right now it feels like we're not adapting properly.
It is easy to say that as a grown adult. We don't allow our son to use any social media. You and many other adults that still use these platforms do not rely on them for personal confirmation. You have the ability to discern what is right and wrong. What's worthy and what isn't. Nor do you care. Now put yourself as a child learning how to a man or woman and looks to influencers and their friends reposting nonsense and incorrect information. These posts are what is moulding our children and young adults. They don't know better. Even though my child doesn't interact on these platforms. We still have to talk about what is going on in his life, sometimes personal because the influence goes way beyond the inline community. The teachers are now pushing the same nonsense, because they refuse to educate themselves on the truth.
Ya I agree, much in the way other things need to be vetted by age. Luckily that "same nonsense" isn't a problem where I live......yet. But I stand by what I said, it's not a "social media problem". That is only 1 of the "admittedly easily accessible" ways that is causing problems. I've been lucky with my kids so far for the most part, though I've had to have a conversation or two. I'll leave it at that as it's starting feel like this post is walking a thin line of becoming political and I dont' want the moderators to have to do any extra work today I agree with the sentiment, just I feel there's a whole lot more that contributes to these issues than meets the eye.
A few years back the toilets got ripped out by delinquents doing a challenge. No bathrooms for a week and then they installed new ones. Then it happened to the new ones again.I think they need to make bathroom cards for stalls. If you have so much points you'll be denied entry and have to use the bucket.
