I was recently the winner of Flyers10's last contest and received a BU roll of 1959-D LMCs. I pulled 2 1959D-1MM-030 repunched mint marks out of the roll. In keeping with the spirit and as a further thank you to Craig, I thought I'd pass one of those along to the community here. Here are the rules: The contest is open to all those who are active members of CT and who have a minimum of 25 posts in the forums. Those who correctly answer the following questions will have their name entered into the contest. The deadline will be 21:00 EST on Thursday, 4 February 2010 and the drawing will take place immediately afterwards. I've decided to run the gamut of typical school subjects here(history, science, etc...): (1.)Which fighter pilot became America's first Ace of the Vietnam war AND who was his RIO? (2.)Our coin in this contest is made of 95% Copper. During which stage of a Star's life cycle is Copper produced? (3.)Which poet mourned the death of Lincoln in his critically acclaimed poem "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd"? (4.)What is the common name of the snake that accounts for the most cases of venomous bites in the United States each year? Please PM all answers; do not post them in the forum. Good luck to everyone! I'll try to post photos of the coin later today.
Haha, well I am a hopeless nerd and I already have quite a bit of random facts rattling around in my noggin, but I did learn something today!
When you are are working (working hard FYI and not really on the internet) you reallyyyyyyy dont have time to do research so this was just great imho
Now that is cool. Glad you found something good in that roll and nice of you to run the contest.:thumb:
Looks like the last one in was the lucky one. Congrats to coinman_95 for being the winner. Here are the answers: (1.) Randy "Duke" Cunningham/ RIO Lt. Willie "Irish" Driscoll. (2.) Super Giant (I accepted any answer indicating late stage) (3.) Walt Whitman (4.) Copperhead And here is a link showing the variety that was won: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1959&die_id=1959d1mm030&die_state=lds Thanks to all who played along.
I enjoyed reading about this contest. Sweet of you. I might add that "Specksynder" beautifully toned Morgan was a pleasant distraction. I spent more time trying to get a close up, than reading the threads.
I understand! It's easy to get distracted by some of the things you see here. Hopefully you can join in on the next one. Welcome to coin talk!
Thanks. I appreciate the invite to the next contest. Regretabley, I doubt I could ever become smart enough to enter. I hope you will post the answers to the contest questions. Thank you for the welcome.
