This coin has a definite extra "D" to the top right, and if I can take a better pic, has what appears to be another D above that one. I have to see if I can get closer. update-After looking at it further, I think I spotted another"D"!

Hi from a fellow Michigander. Enjoying the rain?

So, to get to your questions, what do we think about what?

Is it an RPM? You said that was definite, so...

Do we think you should sell it? Kinda personal decision there...

Not trying to hack on you, just wondering what the question is.

It could be a RPM, i didn't see it listed anywhere tho. Don't look too hard you'll see all kinds of things that aren't there.

Jim (desert gem) could tell you. PM him. He specializes in errors. I see the D north east of the "D". Problem with the coin is it looks cleaned or no better than an AU. It lacks eye appeal. Just my opinion. Good luck and sorry not to have a better answere for you.

It does look like a D but a stain also makes sense. There is one way to find out if it is a stain.

A perfect "D" shaped stain? I have a cloth I use to rub off foreign debris, and things like that, but this has indentations when tilted to side.

Jess, your in SE Michigan, attend just about any coinshow and you may run into Ken Potter, also there is a dealer that attends most of the shows that is pretty knowledgeable names Chuck. Either of those two can give you a definitive answer with coin in hand.

I agree with Mike. Its a stain. Something drops on the coin and then evaporates and leaves the ring. If it were a RPM, then the D would be raised from the coin. The die flow lines are actually taller than the stain which is flat in comparison.

To me it looks incused , which is the problem with coins with marks on them our mind wants to make something familiar to us , ie, matrixing . Stare at anything long enough you'll see something that isn't there , what I'm trying to say is its probably a stain , as mike diamond said .
