I've seen quite a few straight graded error coins that have been cleaned. It almost seems like they decide the error is unique enough to get a free pass. I just bought this one for $70. I'm wondering if NGC will give it a straight grade. It sort of looks wiped/cleaned, though not disgracefully. If they details slab it, it won't be worth it to me, since I just want to resell it. I'm thinking it's a $120-$150 coin, IMO. Perhaps more if it's in a straight grade holder.
Obviously cleaned . . . no luster for so much detail. I suspect you will get a details holder, and personally would offer it raw at a price that is fair to both you and to the buyer.
I don't see anything to indicate it has been wiped to me. The recesses are very consistent with the surrounding areas. The color does look awfully uni-color, but not that I can attach to cleaning.
Thanks. What's it worth? I did a quick ebay search of completed and saw the range of 120-150. But idk. I'll post better pics later. It's actually fairly lustrous in hand.
I think the grading fees would eat into your profits unless you could sell it headed for at least $35 more.
He got that one on Ebay, like most of his scores. You just have to look at thousands of coins a week, just like he does.
I try. One side is my wife saying what sounds like blahhh blahhh blahhh. What I hear is blahhhhhhh blahhhh blahhhh internet blahhhhh. The other side is daddy take me poop/pee/I'm hungry/I need to pee.
Here is what the coin actually looks like in hand. I think it may grade, but there's no point in spending the money when it's nice enough raw.
