https://www.ebay.com/itm/1872-cc-se...982495?hash=item261864481f:g:AAkAAOSwufRcmtBl Oh so reasonable, a great price ($500 or best offer!) on a rare 1872-CC seated dollar in recognizable condition, wonderful photographs and zero feedback from the seller. That must mean no one has ever had a complaint with them, right? Seriously though, the photos don't show much - but are there discernible indicators of the fake it must be? Curious to know what people can see in these pics, intentionally (I assume) as bad as they are. Thank you for your comments
The photo is too small, but the general look is that of the Chinese counterfeits I have seen. The Chinese were marketing a complete set of Seated Dollars in a counterfeit Danco Album about a decade ago. So this could be one of those items. If I ordered this, I would not be optimistic about getting something that is genuine.
Nowhere near uncirculated, more like a fine. It's difficult to tell from the photos but it just doesn't look right. The seller has only been a member since 2018 so they are new and have no feedback. I'd avoid this coin. I know the Red Book is only a guide and prices are way off but the eBay coin is $500 in VG-8 in the Red Book is $3000. Jump over to AU-50 and it's $13,000. That should speak volumes but in case it doesn't let me say, if it sounds too good to be true than it is.
Haha, zero of course. Does anyone have any pictures of a genuine counterfeit of this issue that you would be willing to post (a counterfeit Seated Dollar of any year or mint mark)?
