Well Brian339... having the $40K+ to buy a note like that would be very nice, so if a subjective grade on a notes cost you say $5-10K in this case it might not have such an impact on you since you have $$$ to throw away..on the other hand, that notes Big Brother 15385D* sold as a 66 for the above mentioned price....seems to me someone is holding a big bag of goodies somewhere....wish it were me, dont you wish it were you? Prices like these rule out a lot of us common folk..In Notes and Grades like this, the orignator must be left holding the 68 from an original pack somewhere along the line...dont you think so?

Wow an original pack of Portholes...
    I can dream can't I.
My porthole cna't be shown here because of it's grade. It's like the Phantom of the Opra and you would be scared to see it ;)

I think you will find that anything graded by PCGS or PMG can usually swing
One grade either way, So i hope your note now is in a PCGS holder hanging
On to that nice 67 Grade!! :)

I am not to sure how to respond to you. I will take an intelligent approach.
As for a swing from 66 to 67 its huge and in most cases can be the difference between a 50% to 70% value increase depending on the friedburg number. Whoever won this note from Heritage back in 07 must have been a happy camper when it came back as a 67.

In this case there is no way in hell that note should be in a 67 holder the front margins are not even which is why I think PMG graded it a 66.

Its not my note its a dealers and its on ebay. I have owned several similar notes in the past.

It originaly sold for $18K in a PMG66 now a couple of years later its in a 67 being offered at $50,000.00

Seems crazy to me. But thats me.

Its hard to say why or why not either way since the standards are
Different for each TPG, Just because one says its a certain grade
Doesnt mean that the other will agree!! As the owner of several
Hundred graded notes i know what iam talking about!!

I have actually just purchased some graded Mpc that iam going
To be cutting out of there original TPG holder and submitting
Them to PCGS, They are in a 68PPQ state and they look really
Good!!! But iam still expecting PCGS to grade them in 67PPQ
    Just because....LOL

Pretty much the response I expected.;)
I was not aware of the fact that you needed to have some hundred grand notes to know how to grade.
From what I have seen most MPC notes are high grade. Every time I look at the pop charts its rare to see an unc note lower that 66.

Large size currency is a whole different ball game.\
Let me ask you something MPCUSA, do those margins look even to you?

Well i dont know how much experience you have in Military Payment
My friend but i have alot, For you to make a blanket statement like
That saying most Mpc,s are in high grade makes no sense at all
Sure if your looking at the commons but there are several notes
In PCGS inventories that dont even make it to Unc grade, Here,s
    A prime example Series 471 $5 only 1 in 58 and 1 53PPQ There are
Many more just like this, So iam not sure where your getting your
    Information?????

Here,s my Series 471 $5 in VF 30PPQ worth about $1,000 This note
    Is very rare!!

Also heres another one Series 681 $20 in 68PPQ only 1 in PCGS
    Inventories worth about $1,600

Ive got several other examples to prove my point!!

I think he is just referring to once in CU they are all high grade. Like in the pop reports there is not many graded between 60 and 63.
Where as with Large notes there is not that gap in the CU grades.
Again that is what I think he is saying...
    But we'll see soon I'm guessing :D

Well if he,s a PCGS member he can go to the pop report and can
See the results there for himself, The only reason i threw that
Series 681 $20 in 68 is there,s only one! In population in PCGS
The truth is no one,s sure how many are left,
Published printing figures but that doesnt tell us much of how
Many actually survived many were destroyed (Her,s a pic)
I already put in to another thread but it sure makes you wonder??
    This was not that uncommon!!

You know guy's... all of you hit on a very true topic. That's is whats ultra cool about Paper Money Collecting. You see each Series is a different Ball Game...Man there is just no way to tell how many of any Series remains with 100% accuracy.
The TPG are at least making catalogued remarks on notes that are. With the new method of PCGS trying to "fingerprint coins" as I have read it to be associated with, the thing Paper Money has going for it is that each note has a unique Serial Number except for the 5 Issues of Fractional Currency! Coins therefore do not and gem stones are laser engraved with ID too..

Often the Comptrollers Books will reflect outstanding notes but still no one can be sure of an exact number. This is what intrigues me with my Large Size Collection, while it is quite small (consisting of 45 notes) it is the less than 100 known pieces that really get you excited...the challenge of building set's with more populous notes of high quality, the ever present chase of the unknown and or yet to be discovered items that lure us into creative ways to obtain such pieces of Americana!

SO go out there and assemble what ever it is that drives you Mad...Booohhahahahah and may success be on your side.

For me the lure of 5 different collections has me running in complete circles, ever expanding the knowledge points that just beg to be rivaled. We are all in a group of guardians..we hold these but for a short while then another takes our position.

MPCUSA just to pass it along PMG has graded series 681 $20 2/68 1/67 10/66 3/65 1/64 and 5 other in mid grades. If anyone ever needs a population report please feel free to send me an IM.

    PEACE

I guess you think that,s alot? I to can supply pop reports!!
Obviously you know nothing about Mpc and wish to belittle
My collection, Good luck brother! Go back to what you know
Because it sure isnt Mpc :loud:

Wow your ambitions must be high MPC because one of the 2 highest graded known and only 1 of 22 graded would not be "belittling my collection" :D
It would be high high praise!

Just in case anyone wants to know... PMG's Pop Reports are Free.. Simply just sign up and start searching...

PCGS does charge a membership fee to do this!! This is one reason why I am moving to PMG for my collections.

Thanks RickieB, That I did not know about PMG! But being an ANA member I do have my PMG submission rights as an ANA Associate member!

Also, I wanted to say that I really, really liked what you said above, "We are all in a group of guardians..we hold these but for a short while then another takes our position." That has a very nice sentiment and feeling of longevity about it, as if we are not just one in a long line, but one unbroken chain down the years! :thumb:
