No I don't think it will upgrade at all, it's a really nice coin and a top notch grade but most of the time ppl send stuff in for an upgrade and that's it, they don't get one and realized they wasted money and time.
Spot is pretty noticeable in a key place on the coin, It's really well struck but I don't see it in a MS67 PL
When you asked if we thought it would upgrade, at first I thought you were joking. Trust me, it is a nice coin, but I would never even buy it due to that spot. It would bother me way too much. There is also a deep mark on the eagle's breast. The reverse of the coin is really hurting you at this point, and I would just be happy with MS66PL.
I'm not joking, 66s have a lot more hits than this. I'm surprised at the responses I got on both here and CU, what does a 67 have to look like, MS69's? The spot is being removed by NCS
I'm well aware of what a 66 and a 67 look like. I can agree that 66's have more hits than this, but that isn't the only thing that coins are graded on. I'm welling to bet you are well aware of that. There are light surface marks on the cheek, as well as a few spots on the obverse. That, along with the deep, horizontal mark and spot on the breast, and also the spot on the wing, make this coin a MS66.
Yes I am aware of it as well. You have to realize your looking at a coin blown up like 50 times it's original size, the marks in hand are very hard to see, the toning spot is the only really noticeable speck on the back.
Post some pictures after the spec is removed. This is a tough call without the coin in hand to twirl and see that it really looks like. You get that spec removed and it stands a shot. It is a beauty in my opinion.
I'd like to see it under natural light, the diffused lighting can cover up a lot of things. Looks like there some light surface marks on Liberty's cheek (could just be frost breaks), right under her eye. How well the spot removal turns out will play a role, but, imo, that hit on the Eagle's breast could hold it down.
