    hey guys,

i found an old liberty nickel of mine in an old coin jar and examined it. It turns out that the width of the coin is almost 1/2 the width of a normal one. It is even tiny compared to a penny or dime. Is this potentialy valueable?

I would have to say no. When the Liberty Nickels were being produced, there are no records of wrong planchet strikes, so my guess would be a little too much pressure when struck, or maybe the rim didn't come up well. You didn't mention the grade of the coin, so it may be heavy circulation. Other than major errors, off center, multi struck, the Liberty Nickel just isn't that valuable.

I believe that is most likely a novelty coin.
I've seen other designs reproduced as tiny replicas.

Assuming that by width you are referring to the diameter and not the thickness, you may have a Bert Hickman special. His standard price list does include Jefferson nickles, but he doesn't mention what size they reduce to. :)
