I'm really trying to evaluate these coins before posting pics, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Looking at the innermost tips of the 9 & 6 of the date. Thanks for the feedback.
Most all 1960-D SMDT's look like this, it's normal. Most all 1960-D SMDT's look like this, it's normal.
Yep. Normal. I remember when I first looked through some small dates the same thing had me questioning too. On the tip of the 9 I thought I had found a small over large date variety!
Bummer. The other 60D's I have seem to have crisper/clearer dates. First thing I did was check coppercoins and nothing was listed. So, what am I looking at? I don't think it's MD, and if it's not doubling, how does a new collector distinguish the difference? I did a search on coppercoins from 1960-1969 and the closest I found that was similar was 1962P-1DO-027. What is different about the thickness on the 9 & 6 on that coin? The doubling on the 6 in that picture looks very similar to what I have.
It's only a design change with the master hubbs - they all look kind It's only a design change with the master hubbs - they all look kind the way you are desribing them. It's a normal coin.
One more thing, please get a Cherry Pickers Guilde One more thing, please get a Cherry Pickers Guilde, study it and most of your questions will sonner or later be answered. This is not easy learning regarding all types of doubling, how to tell true doubled dies from other forms of doubling but keep searching and study, study, study!!!
Thanks again. I tried to pick up a guide the last time I was at my local dealer, but he doesn't carry them. I guess I need to order one online.
