http://www.hispanicallyspeakingnews.../ecuador-buys-millions-of-1-u.s.-coins/16002/ s the U.S. continues to debate the use of the $1 coin, Ecuador continues to import the currency. Approximately $167 million in $1 U.S. coins was imported by Ecuador in 2011 and will start to circulate throughout the country on May 21. Pedro Delgado, head of Ecuador’s Central Bank, says the coins were chosen instead over paper (cotton) money due to what people use it for.
They like the Sacs, but the Dead Presidents not so much. Maybe the next time we give aid it can be sent off as a pallet of golden dollars. TC
I have no idea why they like them. but I don't understand why WE don't like them (except for the fact that they are ugly, but so is the Washington Quarter)
People will ALWAYS choose paper money over coins, even when coins were gold and silver. Paper money is simply easier to handle. Until our politicians grow a pair and do what is best for the nation, the $1 paper bill will continue to be printed, (money wasted), and we will stockpile $1 coins, (money wasted).
No traces of cocaine remains on the dollar coins compared to the paper dollars. However, they can't snort the coke with the coins!
We Americans prefer our paper dollars, have you ever tried getting a dollar coin to stay in a strippers thong? Come on people, the paper dollar is here to stay as long as stripper industry is around, which it will be, they're #1 customers are those loons in D.C.
