Liampi, Beitrag Group I; BCD Thessaly I 1013 (same rev. die); BCD Thessaly II 27 (same dies); HGC 4, 38. THESSALY, Phalanna. Mid 4th century BC. AR Drachm (18mm, 5.43 g, 12h). Youthful male head right / ΦΑΛ-AΝΝ-Α-ΙΩΝ, horse prancing right. Papaevangelou-Genakos 1; BCD Thessaly I 1250 (same dies); BCD Thessaly II 569 var. Terrific examples 'JB' !! Frankly, I had to revisit a map(s) to recall the territory of 'Thessaly' So I guess Larissa is part?? I recently lost out on several of the 'Thessalian League', but 2016 seems to be my year of the Greeks---at least in the coming months LOL

I found an exceedingly nice example of one of the Thessalian League bronzes at the last Baltimore show (which went to a friend on this forum)... Thessalian League Æ Trichalkon, 20mm, 5.3g, 12h; Second half of 2nd Century BC Obv.: Laureate head of Apollo right. Rev.: ΘEΣΣA / ΛΩN, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; ΘΡA in right field above, owl in left. Reference: Rogers 20.
