This poor coin was delivered in insufficient packaging long ago, and has suffered in the years since. I'm really feeling the urge to clean up the fields somehow. Or maybe ask one of the buffalo nickel carvers around here to put a texture in the fields? What would you do with this coin if you intended to keep it, but it looked as sad as this?
I'd leave it alone, there really isn't anything that can be done to improve it. I would probably also get a problem free example.
Sad Coin? Sad! My good man, that coin is absolutely stunning! Look at that detail…The fingers, the beard, the helmet and the rest of his attire. That coin is a beautiful work of art exactly as it is, attempting to clean it would truly be a crime. If it were me, I would put it in an air tight. It might not occupy the “center stage” of my display, but it certainly would not be too far from center.
Bro, if you know where I can score an airtite that will fit a 20 balboa into it, spill the beans! This thing is big.. I do like the design a lot, its the fact that the condition deteriorated during my possession that has me sore and feeling like I have to do something about it..
I'd like to grab another (or several), I just never seem to find any. It's always the "big head" 20 balboas. "Big head" balboas everywhere. I don't want a "big head" coin. :desk: Anyone got any leads on ones that come in a proper container to begin with?
Your coin is 61mm, yeah that's big. Though the are not common, they do make Air-Tites in 65mm and 76.8mm. I'd contact Jp's Corner, he should be able to get them for you. HERE As for the coin itself, I'll take a look around
GDJMSP said it is 61 mm, for the metricly impaired that's 6.1 cm * (1 inch / 2.54 cm) = 2.4 inches (diameter, I'm assuming)
You can get off the high horse AgCollector. :loud: I did not see the post by GDJMSP.:headbang: I will have you know that I can use the metric system fine when there are no other options. Sorry invictus, I do not any air-tites that large hanging around. Air-Tite Holders has them that size under Direct Fit Holders.
Sorry to offend- I had assumed you'd seen his post since it was over a half an hour before your response. In truth, I'm a bit testy on the subject since I teach general chemistry and just finished grading a quiz on unit conversions where, for example, over half the people couldn't convert 55 miles per hour to kilometers per minute, even after I told them that there are 1.609 km in 1 mile...
No, I guess I was a little testy also. I didn't see the post because I was attempting to do too many things at once. It wasn’t there when I started to reply, then *poof* it was there when I posted. In fact, I didn't see it until you brought it up. So, I apologies for snapping, sorry.
