I may or may not have posted this here. I can't remember and couldn't find it. So, for your viewing pleasure....I picked this up on Ebay. It belonged to a U.S. Congressman from Pa. I have a note from his wife, she is in her 80's. The note says the Congressman served from 1955-1975. The note also says he was a personal friend of Both Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. This was given to him by his colleagues upon his retirement. Now, I have already heard all the jokes about a congressman getting a toilet seat....but look at the pics as it is pretty cool. I am keeping it in the box. I was going to get brackets and hang it in the home office but the thought of it "maybe" crashing and hitting the tile floor,,it wouldn't stand a chance. So its in the box nice and safe with the note from His wife. let me know what you think.....7 pics http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet1.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet2.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet3.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet4.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet5.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet6.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet7.jpg http://members.sparedollar.com/gil/toilet-seat--overview.jpg and here is a link to the Congressman http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=C000431
Hey Grovey...nice...you better hope that none of the dates will ever go up in value!!! Speedy PS...I moved it to CoinChat where more people will see it...
A very appropriate gift to a Democratic Representative to U.S. Congress and a personal friend of Both Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. It probably reminded them of where they met each other!
I love it! A coin dealer friend of mine has one similiar to this...lots of old coins. Even some seated liberty coins as I recall. In the center of the lid is a $5 1899 "one papa" note. Very cool. He refuses to sell it to me even though I've hounded him for it since about 1993.
