The silver standard, are there any countries left?

    I heard that almost every country has abolished the gold standard. According to wikipedia. *almost* are they really some nations that use gold in currency?
    doesnt mexico use silver coinage for the core of their coins?

    Russia (or the Soviet Union) and Malaysia tried to do that before but failed miserably. The main reason of the failure is because gold prices are too unpredictable. Who knows what countries still attempts to do that.

    There are none that I am aware of. I read of a small country that was going to try and issue circulating gold coins a year or two ago but that was the last I ever heard of it.

    As for Mexico using silver - no.
