Two hundred fifty years ago today the first shot of the Revolutionary War was fired. I am blessed to live in a state rich with history that goes back to the revolution. In fact where I live we had several permanent British encampments. And today at our old mill house we had a number of re-enactments, encampments and museum displays set up. I couldn’t miss that. When I got my first Redbook I was completely taken with the 1784 Bar Copper. It was my lifetime bucket list coin. I finally got it a few years back. I always knew the obverse was patterned after continental uniform buttons. What I did not know is that the reverse too was patterned after uniform buttons. These were recovered from the Camden battlefield and on display. And my bar copper…
It is a great coin. Glad you filled your bucket list item. Huge way, how is your wife doing after her surgery?
She is doing much better than she thinks she is. I didn’t expect her on her feet until next week and she was up the next day. Thanks for asking!
Yeah that bar token is the holy grail, glad you have it and the history you outlined makes it even more cool!
