I've been working on this set for close to 10 years. And looking for this coin to complete it for close to 5 years. THE SET: US Classic Head Half Cents (1809-1836) THE FINAL COIN: 1809, Small o Inside O (C-4) The coin is in an NGC VF-20 BN holder. I'm going to have to have it reholdered because the attribute is not on the current label. And it has to be for me to fill the last hole in the NGC Registry Set. What a surprise today! The coin arrived from a well-known EAC dealer who I've been checking with at every Baltimore Whitman show for years. He also supplied me with the two varieties of the 1811, but that was years ago. He's kept me (and this coin) in mind all this time. Nothing like finishing a set. I'm thrilled!!!
Plenty to keep me busy (and poor). I've got 6 IHC's to go for my MS set. I've got 8 Braided Hair large cents (1839-1857) to go in VF/XF/AU (mid-grade "fun" set). And I've got 4 silver Roosevelt dimes in MS-66 FB/FT to go (I like matched sets sometimes).
Sweetness, I just got my 1st this month hope I can get the full set faster then 10 years, but then 99% of the fun is the hunt
Way to go Kanga! Nice to hear about completions as I never seem to get mine lol Good luck with the others.
Nice coin, kanga. Congratulation on completing your set. I remember you 1811 (C-2?) was something to look at.
Thanks for all the nice comments. I solved the completion problem. I only start sets that I have a strong possibility of completing. So I won't go after a set like SLQ's (no way I'd be able to afford a 1916) OR I justify not including certain coins in a set. Hence I can collect Morgans because I only go for business strikes and the 1895 is proof-only Plus I avoid long sets such as Seated Liberty's and Barber's. At my age I don't have the time left for them
