Does anyone know why the British Royal Mint does not allow American's website access? I really want to get the beautiful new Trafalgar commemorative and the only way I can look at it is through the google cached option which doesn't allow me to interact with it. <shrug>
If I had to guess, I'd say that the Royal Mint just hates you. I'm sure it's not personal, but you probably said something about the queen that offended them, and now they are denying you access to their website to get back at ya! No, but seriously, no idea. Perhaps it's a problem with your computer.
grr.. no it was a different queen I was harrassing. http://www.royalmint.com/ <-- when i use this address I get a white screen of death, oh well.. anyway i found the set I wanted on ebay for $34 the double Nelson 5£ set The page cannot be displayed There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: Open the www.royalmint.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want. FWIW, I just tried accessing the mint's website. Clicked on your http://www.royalmint.com/ link, and got this ... Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 8007000e' Server.CreateObject Failed /RoyalMint/global.asa, line 152 Ran out of memory Seems it's not you who has some problem. Christian
Nah seems like their side. I got the same error too. HTTP 500 error just means that their database is having some real troubles.
It's not just you and it seems to be widespread. I tried the site you had and failed, I tried their royalmint.gov.uk site and failed. I did get in on their USA distributor site http://www.royalmintusa.com/ but if I tried to view any of the offerings those failed too. So that's three sites on two continents down.
Wellll....while your waiting for the English to get their site back up....you can check out this royal mint http://www.ramint.gov.au
Or this Royal Mint ... which currently has the new (2006-) Jefferson Nickel on its front page http://en.knm.nl As for the one in the UK, well, seems that is not a flaw which can be fixed on weekends ... Maybe tomorrow. Christian
Thank you very much for the Australian and European site. The Australian Site was dangerous.. I came this [ ] close to purchasing the complete Gallipoli set, but I didn't... it's very beautiful though. I did purchase the Nelson and Trafalgar set off ebay from a Canadian coin dealer for a good price though.. I'm looking forward to it.. even if it isn't silver.. The Royal Mint site has been down for more than a month then. I was trying to log on at the end of September with no luck. Must be some internal security thing.
Ah... look at all you impatient whiners. The site works fine and it even list prices in US$ and CAN$.
What I want to know is why the Canadien Mint wont let me buy direct from them ?? at least I can do that with the Royal Mint over here De Orc
