Here's the rest of my lot containing acast fake of a modern replica, I'm hoping the rest turn out better. I didn't see anything that made me suspicious of any of rest of them. Seller pic, fake of a fake labeled. This was an ebay lot I paided 77 bucks for, I was mainly going for the two coins on the left. Here's the Carus on the lower right. It's kind of a turd, but it really is better than my pic. Now the Commodus. Man, the surfaces are kind of rough aren't they? Still, it doesn't suck. Here is the Domitian sestertius! This the edge view, this thing is THICK! If everything else is ok, I'm happy with 77 bucks for the lot. I"ll just tell myself I paid 75 for the 3 real coins, and 2 bucks for the fake. Anyone see anything that looks suspicious that I missed?
That Commodus is pretty sweet. Definitely worth $25. Even worth the $25.66 it would be if you chalked up the fake as a total loss.
No, I didn't mean I thought they were fake, I didn't think any of them were when I bid on them. I was suspicious of the Galerius coin after I examined it in hand, and members here confirmed it was a cast of a modern replica. I was just hoping I hadn't missed anything else! I don't think the seller had any idea it was a fake, and I'm not going to return the lot....as long as the rest were ok. I changed the phrasing of my original post so that is less confusing I hope.
