O.K so im going to buy myself a red book (they dont' have one at my local library) I was wondering if people like the hard back or the spiral one better. There is only about a dollar differance. I was thinking the sprial one would be more practicle, but if they have been known to fall apart then I don't want one.

I like the hard cover. You can purchase it at Barnes & Noble or Borders. I believe they are $16.95. A very good investment.

I personally have only had the spiral and i think that they are petty great. They dont fall apart unless you are trying to make it fall apart. I like and think it would be easier to handle than the hardcover. It really doesn't matter which way you go. They both are the same and a great referance.
Good Luck in making your choice.

hmmm hard choice. Im leaining towerds the sprial because it will lay flat and I wont have to brake the spine. Does anyone on hear have an online book store id reather support a local than scam and nobel. if noathing else I guess i could use the cointalk link for amazon and give a little back to the board. thanks guys

I like the spiral. I had a hard bound several years ago and the book is so tight it's hard to lay down open. The spiral is much more functional. So, that's what I go with...I pick a new one up every 5 years or so.

For years all that was available was a hardcover book. I now use the spiral bound version, as noted above, it lays flat and stays on the page you are using. With regular use I haven't seen any tendancy for pages to tear out. Go Spiral!

Mine is the same way. I think they use pretty good quality paper because I'm using the 2007 Red Book still and I haven't lost a page.

Spiral opens and lays flat. Yes they do fall apart. The back flap tore away from the coils on mine. If I had to do it again, I'd still go with the spiral.

As others have said, the spiral lays flat and is easier to use. Plus, I don't know what others do, but I tend to write in them and highlight things. I consider it a tool and not something I try to keep in pristine condition.

Unless you intend to buy a new one each year, buy the spiral bound version.
If you use it just an average amount, the spine on the hardback will break in a couple years and you end up with some loose pages.

And like others have said, the spiral bound version lies flat making it very easy to use.

I buy a new one about every 5 years.
If you have other sources of pricing info you don't need one more often than that.
