Welcome John, I have to agree with the comments that it isn't a doubled die variety. There are many threads and examples of this that you can search for using the "Search box" above your avatar/ info in the upper right hand side of each thread you look at. put this ( below in blue) in the box and press search in the popup. Of you read a few of these that sound similar to yours, read the posts, and then you will be able to decide what you have. Jim

    The terminology is doubled die.

The biggest mistake that the Mint made was when they changed the Lincoln cent to the "Crappy Zincoln" in 1982. This plating issue that others have cited is just one of the problems collectors have encountered.

  12. I understand whats being said but the mint mark I believe is doubled and the A M in America is also high on the coin.

Said term is erroneously applied far too often on this board, so do be careful taking as unquestionable fact whenever someone uses it.

If you haven't done so already, you should find the below link enlightening....

The mintmark shows what's often called a "split plating" issue. As for the AM, I see noting noteworthy.

I was giving you the search phrase and just used key words for the problem area you were mentioning. I can see where it might have been misleading.
