I did something that I don't often do. I upgraded a coin. Here's the old one: And here's the new one: Not a big jump, but look at the reverse of the old coin. That's why the upgrade!
It's not the same coin Noost. Congrats on the upgrade, it's alays cool to improve your collection. NOW, what you did not tell us, is what did you do with the old one......sell, trade, keep...... Inquiring minds want to know
Kanga , I like the new one , and the noost is right see what PCGS will do , It must of been on the coin when they slabbed it , I could see if it turned brown , but not the green stuff , is it verdigis ? Rusty
I think I am correct on this, PCGS has no time limit on their guarantee even for copper. You are thinking of NGC. I am sure if I am wrong, someone will say so.
Yes, I believe it's verdigris. I still have the coin, but not for long. I'll be relinquishing ownership in the near future. Hadn't thought about returning it to PCGS for a refund, or whatever. Can I do that if I wasn't the one who submitted it to them?
Who cares about the grades....the second coin is far more attractive to my eye. I think you did well, and -- more importantly -- your eye is getting better.
Kanga, Send the VF25 into PCGS for Spot review/grade review. They will either conserve and reholder the coin, buy it back, or give you a partial refund and put it in a Genuine holder.
The answer turned out the be rather simple. I was going to take it to the Whitman show the end of March and talk to PCGS. I e-mailed my favorite dealer (MFD) to get some opinions about options. But he said send it to him and he'll give me what I paid for it!!! Then he'll take care of the "what next". His statement to me was, "I don't want you to ever lose on a coin." We should ALL have dealers like that.
Sounds like a standup dealer Kanga, please out them so others know who they are, those dealers are few and far between and deserve to be recognised:thumb:
I forgot to mention I didn't even buy the coin from him originally!!! He and his wife are top-of-the-line small cent dealers. You'll find them at all the big shows. Business name is Angel Dee's.
Nice coins. I got extra credit in US history for knowing what the first coin with IGWT was on it lol. hya:
