The Poker Contest

I'd like to hold a significant summer contest and I'm fishing for ideas. I would first like to disclaim that I am not promoting gambling, but the contest is somewhat related to poker. I'm going to be taking a trip to Atlantic City in two weeks and I am putting a pledge down right here on CT and comitting that I will donate 10% of my winnings to the contest prizes. With this being said even if I bust out (it will be a 3 day trip) I will be putting up a prize of no less than $100.

To Cut to chase, I'm in the planning phase and looking for ideas for the contest. Please leave response or PM because I am completely out of ideas, and I'd like a fresh contest with a fresh concept. Thank You in advance and please brainstorm. The contest will be held in about two weeks and I plan on updating status everynight for three nights. My goal is to raise 1k in prizes for this contest.

just kidding, but good luck on the contest, whatever it may be, my mind is fresh out of contest ideas right now.

 

How about a Cointalk Poker tournament? Doug already has a group set up on Pokerstars and I think there are about 20 members signed up. This freeroll tourney with prizes would probably boost membership and help get the weekly/biweekly poker game going again. It is play money so there is no gambling related problems.

+1 to that idea. Plus, it'd fit in nicely with the whole reason why Jason is putting together a prize!

 

As an avid poker player myself I love the idea of combining coins and poker .

I really love the cointalk tourny idea on pokerstars as well!

That sounds AWESOME! My only issue is how do we coordinate with others so that we all have an equal shot at winning? For instance, I work M-F 9-4:30. When I get home and settled it is probably about 8:30 or so back East. They may be having family time or something else.

For poker players this sounds like a great idea, but......... for those that are only casual players, like myself, or those that don't play at all, jumping into a shark tank doesn't sound that appealing.

Holdem is enough luck that anybody can win on any given night. Besides, this is play money we are talking about and I am the only professional poker player in the group. And as pros go, I am not very good.

Sorry about that, I fixed the link. I checked pokerstars and the group has 15 members, plenty of room for new members. I am playing play money Badugi and some guy is talking trash to me. Go figure!

I played a 30 hour session this weekend. Played $10-$20 LH for 24 hours and found myself stuck $1700, they called a new $20-$40 LH game at Noon on Sunday and after 6 hours I won $1300 back and left. Spent all day today recuperating. Never did a $400 loss feel like such a win!
