My Collection of Platinum 1/10th oz Eagles

    Howdy everyone...
Finally got around to photgraphing the Platinum Eagles. I hope you enjoy as much as I do...
There will be a couple of post due to the number of pics...the coins go in date order from 1997 thru 2005..the uncirculated is shown first then the proof's to eliminate any confusion.
Coins that I am missing are as follows 2000 prf, 1999 uncirc, and the 2002 proof. Forgot to post the 1997 proof...LOL

That's really a great modern set. Makes me want to shift from gold to platinum. This might be a good idea because my usual suppliers for gold and silver seem to have really raised the prices lately.

Hey Clowdsweeper...Thanks...check out the Thread " Completion of the 1/2 oz AGE 1986-2006...I posted the key dates that I just finished...WOW that was expensive!! As you may well be aware of I am trying to put together the entire series..with just 15 one ounce coins remaining to do it! I am planning on posting the entire series upon completion..that should be within the next year or so I hope!
    Thanks for taking a peek!

I saw the other thread and that is great also. With "only" 15 ounces of gold to go, I would think you could knock that off before lunch tomorrow if you get up early enough. ;)

    Hello Everyone...

Just wanted to post some news that I finally finished the platinum 1/10th oz set in both uncirc and proof:hail: . The final coin was the 2000W Proof 10th oz..very hard to find in PRF69 DCAM..several PRF70DCAM but too much $$$$

As soon as it arrives I will post the remaining pics to show the entire set. I picked up a NCG (1st of the Grading Co) MS 70 2005 as a triplicate of that year. It is for safe keeping with the other two frist strike PCGS MS 69's

Thanks for reading..BTW the 1999 above this post came back as PCGS MS69. All coins are Prf and MS 69 except the NCG MS70

Thanks Speedster...how ya been? I have been reading a lot of information and post's here on CT.
I have also added all the 1/4 oz Proof AGE to my AGE collection as well. WHew!! That was expensive...now the mint is releasing a whole new series..dang!!! I'll never catch up..plus they sort of pi_ _ ed me off with 3 coin gold set..it's coming to me but I am thinking of returning it. Hope everything is well for you and look forward to your post's. Did you ever go to grading school??

Hey RickieB, just wondering about your thoughts on the 2006 $25 platinum unc with only 1800 minted & the 2006 gold $10 & $25. Both low mintages. I am sure all three coins in the new finish the mint is putting out will also be low mintages.

    Hello Claw...
Well my non-professional opinion is that all the platinum Eagles are rather low mintages. The trouble with Platinum is that the collector base is somewhat small due to the metals expense/popularity. It is also very hard metal and minting it is troublesome from what I understand. I think in the years ahead they will be sought after more so than now and the low mintages are a strong point! If you like em then get all you can. I have several of the 1/4 oz prf and uncirc as well as some of the 1/2 oz. The AGE on the other hand are my favorite coin and have put together the Uncirc series from 86-06 in all denomination except the 1 oz in which I only need 10 more to go. All the key 1oz are in hand..with gold moving in such volitale swings it has been difficult to find the extra $$$$ to finish the 1 0z. I now have 2 1/2 oz 2006 AGE and 4 1/4 oz AGE 2006,
The 1/2 oz coins are most always the fewest minted with the 1/4 oz close behind. The key to the series is the 1991 1/2 oz AGE and in MS 69 it will run you 1700-1900.00 USD..OUCH!! Glad I got mine a while ago!

It is getting more difficult to find the platinum eagles in MS as they are being held..I personally buy all I can when I find them PCGS only. I have 1 2005 MS 70 NGC I picked up for a good price..only NGC coin I own. Nothing wrong with NGC as far as I am concerned..I've just always collected PCGS from the 80's.
Hope this helped you some..one day the complete AGE series will be worth big bucks..after Im dead of course..LOL

Congratulations Rickie! I'll bet that's a great set. I have a 2001 1/10 oz unc. Platinum Eagle. I love the design. Personally, I like the unc. design much better before they made it all matte finish, but oh well. I also have a couple gold eagles in 1/10 and 1/4 oz. They're great too. I think you're on the right track with the platinum eagles though.
